В нынешнем 2015 году исполняется 150 лет со времени выхода в свет одной из самых влиятельных книг мира – сказочной повести Льюиса Кэрролла «Алиса в Стране Чудес». По этому случаю специалисты по творчеству писателя из разных стран мира обратились с коллективным письмом в компанию Google – точнее, её подразделение Google Doodle, отмечающее различные события и даты мировой истории специальным дизайном поисковых страниц. Текст письма приводится ниже. Среди подписавших письмо – и автор этого сайта, переводчик и исследователь произведений Кэрролла Д.И. Ермолович.
Dear Google Doodle,
As you may be aware, 2015 marks the 150th Anniversary of one of the world's most important books: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. As it is the most quoted and among the most widely illustrated and translated novel in English (we know of 174 published languages), we feel that this milestone should be honored with a Google Doodle. Although it could absolutely be on any day of this year, we would suggest November 9th, for on that day in 1865 it was released in its first authorized edition (post-dated 1866) and the author, C. L. Dodgson ("Lewis Carroll"), received his first copies, as documented in his diaries.
